Village Food Markets has won the Bronze Canadian Independent Grocer of the Year Award for 2014.

Each year, independent grocery stores coast to coast in Canada compete for this award. Each store is personally visited, judged and evaluated based on categories such as customer service, cleanliness, freshness, team performance and retailing excellence, to name a few. Village Food Markets was the only grocery store from B.C. to receive a national award for the medium store size.
Established in Sooke in 1979, the store in one of Sooke’s largest employers with a staff close to 100. The store is a large supporter of local donations. Back in 2010 when they switched their dairy over to Dairyland, they started a one of kind program to get money back to the local Sooke schools. This unique Milk Money program has contributed over $28,000 directly back to the schools in the last five years alone.
