Vancouver Island father and son team “follow the dream of ice cream” with their company’s take on three classic flavours.
Going out for ice cream was always a huge part of Ron’s family growing up. He’d always dreamed of opening his own ice cream shop with a fun culture. In 2020, his son Sam, looking to move on from his job, pitched the idea of going into business together. The idea started as a scooped ice cream shop, but morphed into a mobile/bicycle vendor selling hand-dipped ice cream bars.
Father and son spent months perfecting their chosen products. In April 2021, Hazel’s Ice Cream (named for the family dog) hit the road for the first time. They had a wonderful reception in Victoria. After a season of peddling up and down seaside Dallas Road, they were approached to sell their ice cream bars in local grocery stores. Soon, a few stores turned into an entire side of the business that has given Hazel’s the chance to share their products with families across BC and Alberta.
Hazel’s Ice Cream Bars come in three flavours, made with all natural ingredients and each hand-dipped. Coffee Toffee is the perfect balance of coffee and crunch. Cookies & Cream is the classic that needs no introduction. And their take on classic creamsicle, Orange Float, made with real orange oil, will make it feel like summer is all year long.
We carry Hazel’s Ice Cream Bars in our Frozen Desserts aisle.
